Red Velvet is a wild seeded seedling of black red aka blood red, Suva Red. It is far superior to its parent. The flowers are much bigger and in very big bunches.
Black red aka Blood red is not suitable in cooler areas due to i's lack of vigour even in the tropicx. Red velvet on the other hand is very vigorous and grows very well in cooler climates.
